Federal Emergency Management Program Database Plan

The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) within the Department of Energy works with key individuals to accomplish energy change within organizations by bringing expertise from all levels of project and policy implementation to enable federal agencies to meet energy-related goals and provide energy leadership to the country. As part of our operations, we have developed several databases to track contacts, project information, energy data, and federal agency progress toward energy management goals. Participant will review and examine the existing databases within the FEMP, learn to assess the needs of FEMP staff and customers, and learn to develop a strategic plan for FEMP database management.

Participant Benefits

The selected candidate will receive a stipend as support for their living and other expenses during this appointment. Stipend rates are determined by DOE FEMP officials, and are based on the candidates academic and professional background. Candidates will also be eligible to receive a health insurance allowance and reimbursement for travel expenses. Appointments are for one year. Appointments may be extended in increments of up to one year, contingent upon project needs and funding availability. The maximum length of time a participant can spend in the ORISE program is five years from his/her initial start date.

Nature of the Appointment

Participants will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, the DOE, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.

The desired candidate will have:
Experience in database or information system management, development, and strategic planning for an organization
Completed undergraduate degree
Complete or in progress graduate level degree in database design, information management, computer science or related field
Experience developing strategic plan for database development to meet an organization's needs

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Only
Degree: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree.
